While there are many issues listed in the above article, these are the most important to be aware of:
- Hip Dysplasia
- Bloat/Gastric dilatation-volvulus
- DM/Degenerative Myelopathy
- As noted under selecting a breeder, there is a $65 DNA test to determine if your dog is at risk for DM later in life. If 1 parent was tested Normal/Normal (sometimes written as Clear/Clear) then your puppy will not have both required mutations.
