*** MEDICAL HOLD *** Miss “CAN-DO” Presley <3

MEDICAL HOLD **** NOT ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME **** Please stay tuned for Presley’s story as it unfolds …

Her cast is OFF and Presley is making some strides and learning to use her right leg again (atrophied a bit due to having a cast on for 8 LOOONNNGG weeks). Presley has another appointment in 6 weeks to review the stability of her right leg and to see what our options are for her left leg. HUGE thank you to Dr. Daly and his staff at OVRA in Springfield and to Presley’s foster family who have gone over and above in keeping Presley engaged, healthy and happy during this topsy-turvey journey <3 MORE TO COME!!

THANK YOU to Dr. Daly and the Pawsome staff at OVRA (Oregon Veterinary Referral Associate) for the loving care of Presley – SURGERY #1 COMPLETE!
On 02/23/21 Presley underwent surgery to fuse/plate her right front leg to offer her stability. The surgery was a success! This sweet girl, still full of smiles, will be casted for 6-8 weeks before we know that the bone graft has taken and her leg is strong enough to walk on. While this girl is struggling a bit to find a way to walk on this casted leg, she still is a ray of sunshine happiness <3 Presley was likely born with at least some of these abnormalities. FULL of spunk this girl has struggled with every step thus far.

Our options for her left leg are not as easy. Not only does she suffer from the laxity in her left “wrist”, at some point, (may have occurred in-utero or as a very young puppy) her elbow dislocated and then healed in a crooked/fixed state. The options very much hinge on the success of her right surgery and we thank you for your support (monetarily and through good thoughts/prayers). More to come!!!

As Presley enters into her surgery this morning, we are asking for prayers/good vibrations for a smooth surgery and quick recovery. This surgery will give her added stability to fix the “severe luxation” in her right “wrist” (valgus) and prepare her for the next phase of surgery on her left. #rescueDogsRock#SpecialMedicalRescueGirl#CanDoPresley#swbrescue

SPECIAL THANK YOU to Presley’s foster family for their long-term commitment to get Presley to rescue and continue to help her through her medical procedures ❤#FosterFamiliesRock

“CAN-DO” Presley, who has finally reached the age of hopeful surgery. Full of life and love, this girl has met each challenge in her world with gusto and flare! She has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on vaccines, but needs your gift to gain the ability to walk and run without her physical limitations holding her back.

Her right leg surgery is estimated to be about $5000.00. This would give her the ability to stand and run on her right leg without the “wrist” from having too much laxity by fusing the joint (arthrodesis). You can donate to Miss Presley’s cause here: Donate

Presley has completed her spay, microchip, and is up to date on shots. She is ready for surgeries to correct her orthopedic anomalies!!

05/23/2020 ** PUPDATE ** Miss CAN-DO Presley attended her second swim therapy last week (delayed due to a small unrelated muzzle scrape/infection) – Can’t tell this girl to slow down!!

Presley attended her first of 2 consults with veterinary orthopedic specialists a few weeks ago! She has an appointment later this week for a second opinion – we all want Presley to have the best options and that includes having a few specialists looking at her case as it is so so unique! We want to thank everyone that has donated to her medical costs and have donated items – THANK YOU!!

Special thank you to her foster momma who has taken on this special girl and to K9SwimCenter in Springfield for the discount they offered the rescue for Presley <3

It’s safe to say that Presley’s life, all 5 months of it, has been challenging. We do not know all the specifics of all Presley’s past, but we know she has risen to every challenge with determination and spunk!!! Presley doesn’t see herself as handicapped. She climbs stairs and runs and plays with her foster sister and loves life!! We want to give her the best life she has available to her, for as long as we can.

Sadly, Presley was most likely born with this physical deformity and/or experienced a traumatic event at a very young age, and, we aren’t sure that we can fix it or what sort of life she will have – but her will to rise to the challenge is, remarkable – She hasn’t given up and we simply cannot turn our backs on her either … We won’t give up on you Presley!

Presley had not previously had basic vetting (vaccines, microchip, etc) or seen a orthopedic specialist. We’ve had televet conferences with a few veterinarians regarding existing x-rays and … unfortunately… the recommendations vary … widely.

We have ordered a special orthopedic brace for her to try, made appointments for K9 swim therapy, started her basic veterinary care and she has an appointment with an orthopedic specialist in just a few weeks in Portland.

We know times are tough right now and we understand if you are not able to donate a large sum, but would you be willing to share her post or even donate a few dollars for her care? We hope that her CAN DO spirit will raise your spirits and others during these trying times … if Presley can smile … so can we ❤ https://shepherdswithoutborders.org/donate/

Special thank you to special dog angels Ali and Rhonda who found rescue for Presley while giving her the best of care and love!! Photos and video courtesy of Rhonda, who continues to foster Presley ❤
